The Prairie Falcon High School girls basketball team do it again this year!  The lady Falcon’s capture their 12th consecutive league title.  Their win last Thursday against Fort Vancouver high school (66-13) clinched the Falcon’s first 3A Greater St. Helens League title.

If you recall, last year, Prairie HS was in the 4A GSHL league but dropped to the 3A GSHL league this year.  Last year the Prairie HS girls basketball captured 3rd in State under the 4A GSHL league.  And now it looks like they’ll be headed there again, but this time playing in the 3A GSHL league.

Earlier this week, the Falcon girls played against Camas High School (the Papermakers).  But this game was different from all the other games they have played all year.  This game was dedicated to cancer survivors.  The Prairie girls wore pink socks and their opponents wore pink uniforms in honor of the survivors of breast cancer.  Even the crowd were dressed in pink.  The survivors were honored before the game as well as at halftime, when players from both teams presented them with roses.

By the end of the night, the Falcons had another victory in the 3A GSHL, beating Camas 82-45.  However, the real winners were the breast cancer survivors.  The Falcon’s and the Papermakers and all their fans celebrated with the survivors and reminded everyone that the fight continues. It was a very touching and memorable night for all.

The undefeated (9-0) Prairie girls basketball team have a few more games before State.  Even with losing some of their top senior players last  year, the Prairie Falcon girls still are a strong team and are the team to beat.

I’ll be sure to keep watching this outstanding team as they make their way to hopefully a State Championship this year!

Go Falcons!!!
