Congratulations on your 3rd place win at State Prairie Falcon girls!

The Prairie Falcon girls claimed third place victory over Pasco on Saturday (March 2, 2008) at the 4A GSHL State Tournament. They left the tournament with a 51-39 win. The Pasco Bulldogs were held to 26 percent shooting while the Falcons had 13 steals and a 10-0 run to give them the lead for good.

Ashley Corral led the Falcons with 15 points, six steals, and four assists to complete a record-setting career at Prairie. Corral broke the state tournament’s all-time scoring record with 3:47 to play in the 3rd quarter. She finished her career with 247 points, playing 16 games in 4 years (a 4 year starter). She is the most accomplished girls basketball player to come out of Clark County. She has set 4 state tournament records, including most points in a career. (as well as 32 career 3-pointers and 42 career steals).

But it wasn’t all just Ashley Corral that led the team to a title at state, it was the whole team that made it happen. Without them being the close-knit team that they are, without the camaraderie, their fierce competitiveness, and their desire to win, the Prairie Falcon’s girls could not have made it this far. A team like this could not have won the district championships, or placed at state 11 consecutive seasons. The Prairie girls finish off the season right with a win and a title to bring home.

So who did win the 4A GSHL State Championships? The Lewis and Clark Tigers claimed the title against Moses Lake Chiefs – Final score 42-37, Lewis and Clark. This is Lewis and Clark’s third consecutive Class 4A state girls basketball championship.
